We recently held our first BoldTalk breakfast presentation. BoldTalk is a platform whereby clients are given the opportunity to directly engage with industry leaders and key decision makers from government, labour, state owned enterprises and corporations. Speakers are sourced with relevance to the current economic agenda and explore current issues that impact our economy.

We were honoured to have Mr. Lumkile Mondi, Chief Economist at IDC, as the key-note speaker. Mr. Mondi presented and shared his expertise on the IDC’s new direction and transition process. He discussed the IDC’s long-term direction to increase regional economic integration and their medium or short-term direction to focus on the following:

• Greater involvement in long-term planning and inputs in policy development.

• Greater emphasis on interventions and project development so as to implement economic policy,   focussing on industrial policy.

• Capacitating other DFIs so as to focus on IDC’s core mandate.

• Funding to distressed companies.

The presentation was held at Legae’s offices and was well received by all. The presentation style allowed guests the opportunity to engage in conversation and debate with Mr. Mondi.
